No School Monday (January 16) Life Flight- Wed., 1/18/2012, 1:45pm unless there is an emergency. Cell Phone Use I would simply like to ask that, out of concern for our children, no one who is driving call, text, email, or answer such on their cell phones during the active times of pick-up and drop-off. We have seen numerous drivers punching numbers, texting, talking on phones, and obviously distracted as they try to change lanes and merge with other traffic both in the school lanes and then while attempting to merge onto 3000 East. In addition, I have witnessed pets and small children in driver’s laps along with plates of food and even a driver brushing teeth while attempting to drive. I’m sure we all realize that driving is not a casual activity to be partially attended to, nor is it a good choice for multi-tasking and that cell phone use is distracting. This is especially so when in congested and merging traffic, and rises to an extreme level of risk when surrounded by many impulsive children. For safety’s sake. Please turn phones off during pick-up and drop-off. Thanks for caring that much for our children. Sincerely, Mr. Fawson |
