Dear Parents:

I want to thank each of you for your continued dedication and support of your child’s school
and their education. Being the parent of nine children, I fully understand the challenges of
balancing life’s demands, which makes my respect for you and your dedication even greater. At
times, I’m sure you wonder where you will be able to find the time and resources to keep going.

Understanding this, your child’s teacher and I continue to appreciate and be amazed by your
support of your child by insisting that they do their homework, assisting them as necessary,
checking to be sure it is complete and correct, and verifying it actually got turned in. This makes
a huge difference in your child’s success now and ultimately in their future life.

The crossing guard reported that she is having a few parents who are moving through the
crosswalk when she is holding the stop sign up and is actually in the crosswalk. This disregard
for safety nearly resulted in one of our students being hit this morning. Trying to save a few
seconds by running the stop sign in the crosswalk is foolish at best and extremely dangerous
and life threatening. Injuring a child will not only be a bad day for the offending driver and
the injured child but will be the type of life changing event none of us wants either to be the
perpetrator of, nor want our child to be the recipient of.

It would also help increase safety, and allow drivers to better see children if, when moving
forward, you could make sure that any part of your vehicle is not parked in the crosswalk itself.

Please come to a complete STOP and remain stopped anytime the
crossing guard is in the crosswalk and/or the Stop Sign is raised.
Thanks for caring.

Sincerely,

Mr. Fawson
